The day is upon is, the wait has been long, the anticipation mighty but finally it's time for The Dark Knight Rises. There are so many more Batman incarnations that could, should and would have been highlighted with more time. In lieu of reviews here's the next best thing.
THE HONOURABLE MENTIONS
BATMAN: YEAR ONE
Frank Miller's atmospheric blueprint for Batman Begins gets the DC treatment from director Sam Liu (Public Enemies) and starring Ben McKenzie as Batman, Brian Cranston fittingly as Gordon and Eliza Dushku as the hardened and wonderful Catwoman.
RETURN TO THE BATCAVE
When the Batmobile is stolen Adam West and Burt Ward must find it, all the while reminiscing about the good oul days on set of Batman: The Movie and the three season television show. Yes it's that awesome.
So which one do this think I'm talking about? The answer is either...no both. The graphic novel is phenomenal, a truly amazing read. The video game rendering of the graphic novel is one of the finest examples of how to craft a narrative for the new medium. Unbelievably dark and psychological, some moments are best played with a friend.
Ok this one won't be suitable for the family, or so my friend tells me...ahem, but the best parody in cinema has an eye for detail and this one's got it. An adult adventure in spandex but it's also incredibly loyal to the West/Ward era in a way that you have to appreciate, even if you're not a fan of the story. One thing will unite all Batman fans though the cry "oh no, not Robin!"
YARASA ADAM - BEDMEN
It's Turkish Batman and it all looks a little wrong. Fans of the Turkish superhero movement should also check out 3 Supermen Against Godfather which is playing in Belfast on August 5th. Though I'm not entirely sure there's a surviving copy of it or what exactly is taking place in this screenshot but you can watch the majority of what's left by clicking [here].
