Artist: Chip Zdarsky
|It's a tough book to Google but even tougher to read|
outside a Kindergarten.
This is a comic series I came to 1. by accident (a glorious accident) and 2. when issue one was first released. For a very short space of time I got to feel like I was one of a small group of people who had the inside track on something very special. Since then, Volume 1 has finished (as has Volume 2) and the rights to adapt the book into a television series have been bought meaning Sex Criminals is on its way to the small screen.
|Nymphomania meets Heist meets... I don't know... Timecop?!|
Suzanne has, for most of her life, thought she was the only one. When she is *ahem* excited. When she is on the cusp of orgasm she is able to walk between the moments in time. It's only when she meets Jon, a man with a similar ability, that she finds out not just who she can be but what she can do. Embarking on a daring heist this book is insanely brilliant! There are insufficient words in the English language to praise Fraction's (Hawkeye) work as much as it deserves. It's a ferociously well written comic but it is also amazingly drawn. Chip Zdarsky manages to capture the beauty, gratuitousness, and artistry of the medium (and the message) in each and every panel.
Excluding my life-long love of Batman, The Incredible Hulk and Daredevil, Sex Criminals is easily my favourite book on the market.
